I was gonna practice some more and I'm also giving lessons so I don't know what that would count as. Well giving lessons would give me experience and see what works and practicing allows me to try different methods and see which would be good to teach and at which level.

Independent Study 1

L-I took 19.5 hours of lessons with Eugene Huang my guitar teacher

 and I Practiced for 19 hours. I- This is 30 hours because I practiced and took over 30 hours of lessons. A- Well the lessons helped because I was learning with a guitar teacher and got to experience first hand what its like to have a good guitar teacher. And by practicing it made me a better guitarist and I got to practice techniques and see if they work.

20 Minute Lesson Plan Prepared By: Garrett Cruz Number: 87 Essential Question: What is most important to teaching guitar? Objectives So I will teach the basics of the blues and the effect that the blues has had on musicians.	Teacher Guide	Time
Introduction	Hey I'm Garrett and I will be teaching you guys about blues guitar today so before I begin can I just get some some people to list a few blues guitarists for me. (Something along those lines)	Goal: 20 min	Three Important Sources 1. My guitar teacher 2. My service learning guy 3. A book that talks about blues guitarists
Verification (Steps to check for student understanding)	Ok so since I'm gonna be talking about blues guitar or just the blues in general I will ask to see if they know any blues artists and why they think that the blues is so recognizable. And at the end I will see if they can list the 12 bar blues that I went over.	2 min
Body (Give and/or demonstrate necessary information)	Ok so I will go over the 12 bar blues and the chord progression that I've learned with it. I will also show a basic solo and go over other aspects of the blues guitar/ blues music in general. Literal: Basic 12 bar blues Interpretive: Being able to play with other musicians using the blues as a language Applied: I really like the blues and want to be a blues guitarist someday	Literal: 5 min Interp: 5 min Applied: 1 min	Visuals I will have a poster board with diagrams on it.
Activity (Describe the independent activity to reinforce this lesson)	What is the activity: Well since a lot of blues guitarists sing as well as play I will play a backing track and have the students try to make up lyrics and stay with the beat. How it will be done: I will play the backing track and give the students some paper and have them try to write lyrics.	5 min	Materials I will need a stereo and probably some paper.
